We trust that you find the exhibition at the Begg Museum both interesting and informative. We look forward to welcoming you.

The PR Begg Museum was opened on 30th September 2022 by the Governor of South Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC. This project is and initiative of the Australasian Begg Society of Orthodontics, in conjunction with the South Australian Branch of the Australian Society of Orthodontists and is the only museum of its kind in Australia.

Showcasing historical material dating back to the 1930’s the museum follows the history of orthodontics in Australia and the impact that Dr Begg had on the development of the speciality in in this country.

Dr Begg is a luminary of the dental and orthodontic fraternity. This is best illustrated by his inclusion as the only Australian dentist inducted into the Pierre Fauchard International Hall of Fame, and until last year was the only orthodontist to be inducted. A permanent display of the Begg technique is in the Smithsonian Institution (Washington, D.C.) and also in the Library of the American Dental Association in Chicago, Illinois. His name appears as one plaques of the Jubilee 150 Walkway on North Terrace, which contain the names and deeds of (initially) 170 people who made major contributions to the founding and development of South Australia.
